Tax-Free Weekend

The annual ritual of Back-to-School shopping is a little easier thanks to a Tax-Free Weekend in the state of Ohio. Friday, August 5 through Sunday August 7 is a perfect time to head to the Ohio Valley Mall because there will be no sales tax on some of the most important items the kids need for the coming school year. This applies to items of clothing priced $75 or less, school supplies priced $20 or less and instructional materials priced $20 or less. This tax-free status applies to each individual item, with no limit on total quantities consumers purchase. There are a few limits on the tax-free designation. For example, sports or recreation gear is still taxable, as are any items purchased for business purposes.
